Fr. Glenn Theoret is a retired priest of the Diocese of Marquette. \u00a0His 25 years of full-time parish ministry earned him a reputation as a powerful preacher, filled with and guided by the Holy Spirit. \u00a0He now continues his passion of proclaiming the Word of God through his new role as Executive Director of the <\/span>Gratitude Foundation.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fr. Glenn was ordained to the priesthood on May 21, <\/span>1999,<\/span> at the age of 47. \u00a0Prior to entering <\/span>The University of St. Mary of the Lake, Mundelein Seminary, <\/span>Fr. Glenn spent 19 years working as a Certified Public Accountant. \u00a0After graduating <\/span>college,<\/span> he joined a small accounting practice in his <\/span>hometown<\/span> of Escanaba, Michigan and became a partner in just 4 years. \u00a0In his time as a <\/span>CPA,<\/span> he helped to build the company into a large regional firm with 12 offices in two states. \u00a0He also served for a year as a regional Controller for a large national conglomerate. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 At the age of 33 Glenn heard the story of St. Maximillian Kolbe for the first time during a parish Lenten mission. \u00a0Fr. Kolbe was the man who would step forward and take another man\u2019s place on death row at Auschwitz. \u00a0The homilist pointed to the large crucifix and said, \u201cDid not Jesus do that for you? \u00a0Did he not take your pla<\/span>ce and die for you, for your sins<\/span>?<\/span>\u201d \u00a0Fr. Glenn says that he fell to his knees at that moment <\/span>and <\/span>thanked God. \u00a0He said, \u201cFilled with gratitude I thanked Jesus for the first time in my life.\u201d \u00a0At that moment real faith began to overwhelm him and his life would be forever changed. \u00a0A moment of real gratitude would change his heart<\/span> forever. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 Once ag<\/span>ain<\/span> kneeling under the crucifix in a Blessed Sacrament Chapel a few months later Fr. Glenn felt the overwhelming embrace of God\u2019s love. \u00a0At that moment he experienced a clear and concise call to the priesthood. \u00a0In his words, \u201cIt was more of a revelation of my true self than a calling. \u00a0The words spoken to my heart in the voice of my late grandfather were, \u2018you are a priest.\u2019\u201d \u00a0As confusing a<\/span>s<\/span> that was<\/span>, <\/span>he soon realized that that was in fact his <\/span>identity<\/span>, an identity that he had been searching for his entire life. \u00a0The discovery of God as loving father and self as priest continues <\/span>to <\/span>lead and <\/span>guide his life. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Fr Glenn firmly believes that his new role with the <\/span>Gratitude Foundation <\/span>is God\u2019s plan and not his. \u00a0 In his words, \u201cThere is a burning in my heart that I cannot contain to share God\u2019s Word. \u00a0I feel <\/span>that <\/span>if I <\/span>don\u2019t,<\/span> I will burst! \u00a0Out of the foundational gratitude that governs my life, I must proclaim God\u2019s love and infinite mercy to the world, if I don\u2019t the stones will cry out!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\tI first encountered Fr. Glenn\u2019s preaching on Ash Wednesday, 2006.\u00a0 It only took one homily, and my family and I realized that Fr. Glenn has a very special gift.\u00a0 Fr. Glenn is clearly very spiritual, and that comes through in all of his homilies and reflections.\u00a0 His spirituality is not aloof, or inaccessible.\u00a0 His holiness is authentic, grounded, accessible and on fire.\u00a0 And, that fire is shared, such that the listener also becomes on fire, and inspired to go deeper with Scripture, with God and with our neighbor.\u00a0 Fr. Glenn has inspired me to engage at the deepest level and to work to find my spiritual path, always encouraging, mentoring, coaching.\u00a0 I would strongly encourage anyone who can to attend one of his Masses, homilies, or podcasts.\u00a0 Catch the fire of the Holy Spirit working through Fr. \n\t\t\t\t\t\tFr. Glenn has many charisms, which he displays by his compassion, theological intelligence, spirituality, and love of God. His compassion is continually displayed when he visits the sick of the parish. His manner of prayer and conversation is definitively a gift from God. His spirituality is very evident when he preaches. His homilies are instructive, encouraging and centered on God\u2019s infinite love for each of us. Fr. Glenn is a teacher, a mentor, and a wonderful listener who encourages those around him to follow Jesus more closely.
